About our Founder
George Burton
Psychotherapist and Counsellor
George is a BPC-accredited psychodynamic psychotherapist with over four years’ experience across charity and private practice. He is the founder of his own private practice The William Clinic. His work is relational and attachment-informed, with a focus on emotional wellbeing, relationships, and life transitions.
He has trained and worked at Enfield Psychotherapy and Counselling Service and currently practises at The Blue Door Practice in Fitzrovia, working alongside psychiatrists and psychologists within an intensive therapeutic setting.
Alongside his clinical work, George has a senior communications background at the BBC. This combination brings a calm, thoughtful, and highly attuned approach to care — one grounded in presence, discretion, and emotional understanding.

A Note from the founder
"Mayfair Companions was created from a simple belief: that care should feel personal, dignified, and deeply human.
Through my work as a psychodynamic psychotherapist, and through supporting relatives living with dementia during periods of change, I became increasingly aware of how impersonal and transactional much of modern care can feel. Practical needs are often addressed, but emotional ones can quietly go unseen.
We all want to feel recognised, listened to, and connected to others. Sometimes the smallest things matter most: a familiar face arriving at the door, a cup of tea and conversation, a walk in the garden, a trip to the theatre, or simply having somebody check in and ask how you are.
At Mayfair Companions, we believe companionship is not only about assistance, but about presence. Feeling seen and emotionally held by another person can bring reassurance, confidence, and a greater sense of wellbeing — both for clients and for the families around them.
Every arrangement is approached thoughtfully and individually, with warmth, discretion, and genuine human connection at its heart".
